Workforce Faculty Interest Group at Kingsborough
At KCC’s Workforce Development FIG, our goal is to spark conversation about the relevance of workforce topics in higher education. We want to collaborate with faculty and staff across academic disciplines to talk about using labor market information (LMI) to develop curricula, college and career pathways, noncredit-to-credit alignment, and grant-funded opportunities. Since 2007, we have worked with faculty from Tourism & Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Community Health, Art, and others. In recent years, two of our job training programs have resulted in academic program concentrations–Baking & Pastry in Culinary Arts and User Experience in Art–at the college. We have also developed GED/TASC and job training programs that become college feeders for populations who would otherwise have not considered higher education.
